I’m Going

I’m going to go, out dancing

If it’s the last thing that I do.

I’ll fade with the music,

what more may I leave you?

Let the music of life play on.

I’ll trip the steps in time

I’ll sing the words and laugh aloud

Come sing the tune and rhyme.

Guitar will strum –

and dancers sigh,

discords will fade away.

lights go dim.

My time is up,

I’m sailing far away!

Freedom

How much my freedom means to me?

The shadow of fear is gone.

I may move at will and speak my mind.

The cloud of oppression has blown away

and I am free.

How much my freedom means to me?

The pain is gone and I am almost whole.

It still hides within but with help,

it does not overwhelm me.

How much my freedom means to me?

My pencil makes a mark –

that is the reflection of my thoughts.

No slander or maliciousness is condoned,

still I am free.

How much my freedom means to me?

The shadow of bars and clanging gates fade.

I have paid my debt, done my time.

Now I may chose my path

and I am free.

How much my freedom means to me?

How many died to make it possible?

How many more dream to be part of it?

Our freedom may not be hoarded.

Only by sharing this freedom,

may we say, that we are truly free.

You Know

You know, it doesn’t hurt much when you are dead.

But then you do a lot of lying still.

You know, you don’t fear much when you are dead.

But perhaps there is no adventure left to thrill.

You know, you do not hunger much when you are dead.

But then you do not need to make a meal.

You know, your failures will not worry you when you are dead.

But then who will remember them anyway.

You know, you will not feel sorrow when you are dead.

But then you will not feel much happiness.

You know, you will not cry much when you are dead.

But then you will not see flowers in spring.

You know, you will not have heart break when you are dead.

But then you will not feel the joy of love.

I think perhaps I’ll live with the pain, hurt and sorrow;

as long as I may have the love.

Fruit Fly

I am a fearless Fruit Fly.

I fornicate for fun.

I flit among the orchards trees.

I frolic in the sun.

And from my frequent fusings,

with females that I find.

Fruitfully I’ll fill my world

with future frisky flies.
