Spiders have long hairy legs,

they come both large and small.

I’m not sure why they scare me

but I don’t like them at all.

They sort of catch you napping,

when they hide behind a book

or peer at you from underneath the bed.

I wish they wouldn’t sneak between

the stove and our old fridge,

or dangle from the ceiling on a thread.

They come up from the bath drain,

though Dad says that they don’t.

But just this time I think he may be wrong.

“Cos if you turn the tap on

and wash them down the hole,

they soon appear again, before too long.

There are tiny ones that scurry,

there are medium one that run,

and large ones that just sit there and stare.

But the largest hairy monster

that you have ever seen;

is waiting some where secret

it’s her own scary secret.

So just be careful

with that cupboard door.
